In a significant show of support for youth development and regional unity, Esv. Gerry Ikputu, recently hosted a delegation from the Southern Nigeria Youth Congress (SNYC), the apex youth body representing young people across the 17 states of Southern Nigeria. The visit culminated in a special ceremony where our Principal Partner, ESV. Gerry Ikputu, was decorated as the first Patron of the SNYC in Rivers State.
The Southern Nigeria Youth Congress is a duly registered organization recognized by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development. It was founded in 2014 to bridge cultural, ethnic, and political divides among Southern Nigerian youths and to provide a unified platform for their voices to be heard on regional and national issues. Since its official inauguration on September 16, 2016, the organization has been a key advocate for sustainable infrastructural development, youth empowerment, and active participation in nation-building.
The delegation was led by:
- Hon. Ipue Legborsi – National Director of Protocol and Security and National Leader of Rivers State.
- Sir. Nubani, Bright Eenee Ph.D – Rivers State Chairman
- Hon. West Precious Soibi Ph.S, CNA – Rivers State Vice Chairman
- Comr. Seleipiri Dokubo – State Secretary General, and company of other State Executive Council.
During the visit, the SNYC delegation highlighted their mission to foster unity and cooperation across the region and to create a society free from tribalism and discrimination. The appointment of ESV. Gerry Ikputu as Patron is a testament to his commitment to these ideals and his long-standing support for the empowerment and advancement of young people in Rivers State and beyond.
In his remarks, ESV Gerry Ikputu, noted that “he is deeply honored to be recognized by the Southern Nigeria Youth Congress” This patronship is not just a title, it is a call to action. We are committed to working alongside the SNYC to help create platforms for sensitization and development, and to encourage our youths to actively participate in the vital work of nation-building.
